What Is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology (pronounced KIN – EASY – OLOGY) means to monitor the movement of muscles. More importantly to monitor how our muscles response to stress and things which cause us stress.

When we are under stress of any kind our muscle fibres shorten automatically and subconsciously.

This is hangover that still exists from when we were preparing to run away from a predator when we lived in caves.

In the modern day this still exists now it gives us feedback on all the things that cause us stress – the food we eat, our jobs, our income, our relationships & friendships, negative thoughts and all the things we worry about.

I will use the tools in my toolkit to balance your body and your life. We will know this balance is achieved when you think of the topic that we worked on and the muscle monitoring shows a locking and “balanced” muscle. 

Who Is Kinesiology For?

Kinesiology can be used for all sorts of imbalances and dis- eases. 

People have used Kinesiology for the following reasons.

To achieve your personal goals, by overcome subconscious resistance & increasing your commitment to achieving them.

To improve your posture, & correct deviations

To increase your concentration

To improve your sports performance

To reduce and elevate pain

To reduce your stress, anxiety and panic attacks

To identify foods which lower your energy and which foods support and raise your energy.

What happens in a session?

When you arrive to see me, I will begin by discussing with you your medical history and also a list of the areas of you life that you would like to work on and improve.

The area you want to work on is your choice anxiety & feeling overwhelmed, stressed in the modern day, improve your relationships, improve your abundance, or your business, pain management, weight loss, reach a specific goal.

What’s on the menu?

Once you have chosen the area of your life you want to work on I will use the muscle testing to identify the best approach to help you.

Imagine you are going to go out on to eat for the evening.

First you need to decide what cuisine you want to eat, Chinese? Indian? Pizza? Or Sushi?

Once you have chosen your restaurant you need to decide what dish you want to eat? Chow Mein? Kung Pow Chicken? Pork Balls? Egg Fried or Special Fried Rice?

This is a bit like session with a Kinesiology Practitioner, each Kinesiologist has a unique set of tools according to their training that they can offer you to reduce stress and bring balance back to your life.

When you come to see me you tell me what you want to work on, then using the muscle testing we get feedback from your body “From all the treatments I have learnt which one do you want to use?” (Which cuisine is best for you?)

Then from that treatment which specific technique do you want to use? (Which dish would you like to eat?)

That way each session is bespoke and unique for you but also tailored for you to reduce the stress, change our reaction to it and to bring your body and that area in your life into balance.

1. How long does a Kinesiology Session last?

You can choose between a 60 minute appointment or a 90 minute appointment. 

With a 90 minute appointment there will be more time to explore the issue or to bring into balance the topic that you want to work on.

2. What do I need to wear?

A Kinesiology Session is delivered while you are clothed.

It is usually delivered on a massage couch however it is also possible to receive it seated or standing if required.

3. Do I need to prepare anything?

Mostly no there is nothing to prepare, if you need to bring something for a session it will come up in the muscle testing at the end of the session. 

I wil ask the question is there anything that we need to prepare for the next session. e.g. a food that needs testing or something to bring from home.

4. How often do I need a balance?

When you are happy to come for several Kinesiology Sessions or if you buy a block of sessions, then I can muscle test at the end of the session for a range of time when it is best for your next session.

e.g. between 1 & 3 weeks from your last appointment. 

5. Can I use Kinesiology by itself or with other modalities?

Muscle monitoring can be used to identify which modality is the best one to use. 
We can use it to ensure that we are giving you the best possible balance and treatment for the area you want to work on.

Kinesiology in my life....

I strongly believe it is important to walk my talk, for me that means using the techniques that I use for my own life… Here are a couple of examples of how I have used Kinesiology to help me in my own life.

Kinesiology is the first treatment I tried in my journey into Complementary Therapies. 

I used it initially to overcome by anxiety and it took approximately 6 sessions over an 8 week period to bring me into balance and my panic attacks and anxiety went away.

I fell in love with the ability to get feedback from my body and mind by using the muscle monitoring and so I whenever I felt frustrated or stuck  or overwhelmed in any way I would return for a follow up balance.  

At the end of each session the Kinesiologist would check when my body was ready for another balance and so I also knew when my next appointment was due.

Later I realized I could train in Kinesiology and so I took my first class in 2005.

Since my first class I continue to use Kinesiology regularly, I am always improving my training and continuing to get a balance on a regular basis.

 

I met Emily in late 2018. Since then we have had a kinesiology session every three or four weeks, despite the fact we live 400 miles apart. I love the way I can do the sessions over Skype and don’t need to be physically in the same room. If you wonder whether Emily can work for you, then wonder no more and trust her. She is like a dog with a bone! She digs and digs until she finds the root of the problem and then bingo she balances it so it solved!
